Luna Innovations Incorporated was a participant of Nanotechnology Day, hosted by the Virginia Joint Commission on Technology and Science (JCOTS), at the Virginia General Assembly on Jan. 24, 2007. Representatives from Virginia businesses, universities and government agencies attended the event to educate the General Assembly as to what nanotechnology is and why it is important to the Commonwealth.
"Nanotechnology is the next industrial revolution. In the future, it will impact every business in some manner," said Charles Gause, Vice President of Operations for Luna’s nanoWorks division in Danville, Va., and a member of the JCOTS Nanotechnology Advisory Committee. "It is important that our legislators understand nanotechnology’s potential and how companies in Virginia are progressing in development activities. And, Nanotechnology relies upon a strong science and math foundation. In order to promote nanotechnology innovation in the Commonwealth, we need to prepare our current workforce and future generations by developing and supporting appropriate education initiatives."
