BLACKSBURG, VA, Jan. 5, 2006 - Luna Technologies' Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR) receives more accolades with a 2006 "Best in Test" award from the editors of Test & Measurement World magazine. This failure analysis tool offers unprecedented diagnostic capabilities to the manufacturers of fiber-optic components and assemblies. The OBR is a true high-resolution OTDR designed specifically for qualifying fiber components, modules and cables assemblies for telecomunications, avionics/military-aerospace, and fiber-sensing applications.

Using the OBR, designers and manufacturers can peer into the heart of optical components, modules and assemblies to measure minute reflections with 125 dB sensitivity, 70 dB dynamic range and a measurement up to 450 meters with sub-millimeter resolution and zero dead-zone. Fast, accurate measurement improves product quality and reduces test-time and down-time.

The applications of the OBR cover a number of segments in the product development life cycle including failure analysis, system design verification, component qualification, and troubleshooting. The user-friendly device has multi-functional capabilities reducing the cost of investment in additional equipment.

Vote for Luna's OBR as the Test Measurement Product of the Year at http://www.reed-electronics.com/tmworld/article/CA6291884.html. Ballots open until January 18, 2006.
