Luna Technologies Products Provide New Wavelengths and Multimode Functionality

BLACKSBURG, VA, March 2, 2006 - Luna Technologies, a developer of advanced solutions for fiber-optic test and measurement systems, announces enhancements to its test platforms: the Optical Vector Analyzer (OVA) and the Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR). The new enhancements extend the OVA operating and testing wavelength into the shorter "O" communications band (1310 nm) and introduce multimode testing capability for the OBR platform. These upgrades make Luna’s advanced optical testing solutions applicable to a wider set of optical networking applications that operate at wavelengths outside of the standard telecom "C" and "L" bands and on single and multimode fiber. Applications that require wavelength diversity and multimode testing include passive distribution networks (PON) for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), local- and metro-area networks (MAN and LAN) and short-run optical networks aboard air- and marine-craft.

Luna's OVA enables full-phase and polarization sensitive characterization of optical filters, gratings, add-drop modules and multiplexers, optical fiber, splitters, couplers, Dispersion compensators, waveguides, and more. Luna's OBR gives users unmatched visibility into fiber-optic components, modules and networks for telecommunications and avionics applications by pinpointing sources of error – bad splices, bad connectors, fiber bends and breaks, bad components, etc. – and strong points optical networking equipment.

"Fiber is being more broadly deployed in different network architectures than ever before," said Luna Technlogies Business Director Dr. Brian Soller. "Luna's products have unique capability in optical test and measurement particularly in the areas of component, module and shortrun-network characterization. The introduction of new wavelengths and multimode functionality allow our solutions to be applied to broader set of applications. In the end this helps our customers make and maintain higher quality components and networks at a lower cost. This has always been our ultimate goal."

Luna Technologies will be demonstrating their family of products at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) which begins March 5, 2006, in Anaheim, CA. Visit Luna Technologies at OFC/NFOEC in booth #1201 or online at www.lunatechnologies.com, where you can register for free webinars on Luna's exciting products.
