ROANOKE, VA, Dec. 16, 2008 - Luna Innovations Incorporated has been selected as Business of the Year by the Blue Ridge Business Journal and was named on the first FRONTList of Valley Business FRONT magazine. In addition, Luna's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kent Murphy has been recognized as a Pillar of the Community by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
"We at Luna are honored to be recognized by our peers in the regions," said Murphy. "We are continuing to build a unique technology development company that will develop solutions to satisfy our customers' needs and to create value for all stakeholders."
The Blue Ridge Business Journal is a bi-weekly publication that covers business news in 17 counties in the Blue Ridge Region. The journal chose Luna Innovations as its first Business of the Year in 2004, and has honored the company again in 2008 for its "penchant for groundbreaking research and development, successes in commercial development and commitment to the community."
December's Valley Business FRONT highlights more than 30 area leaders and businesses that were recognized on the FRONTList 2008, The Best of Business. Luna was chosen as the Tech/Industry FRONTLeader as a company that has "generally set an example of corporate responsibility and innovation."
The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce created a new group of individuals who by their actions, position or investment have contributed greatly to an improved quality of life for the citizens of the New River Valley called the Pillars of the Community. Kent Murphy and the rest of the honored individuals will be highlighted in the next edition of the Blacksburg & Christiansburg magazine in early 2009.
