Luna Danville
Luna Innovations' office in Danville, VA.
In late 2004, Luna Innovations successfully launched a public-private partnership to establish a one-of-a-kind nanotechnology facility. Luna nanoWorks, a division of Luna Innovations, is located in a late 19th century tobacco warehouse which has been transformed into a 24,000-square-foot, high-tech nanomaterial manufacturing and product development facility in Danville, Virginia. This project was brought to life through the collaborative efforts of federal, state and local governments, which included U.S. Senator John Warner, former Virginia Governor Mark Warner, U.S. Congressman Virgil Goode, the Virginia Tobacco Commission and the City of Danville.
The Luna nanoWorks facility is now considered to be a key manufacturing operation and application development center for carbon nanomaterials. The facility is uniquely equipped to produce the nanomaterials with exclusive intellectual property rights on manufacturing fullerenes and fullerene derivatives, as well as the use of
these compounds to treat a wide range of diseases.
